Membrane
permeability as a marker of low temperature resistance in maize
--Sinha, NK, Mandal, SS, Handoo, JK,

A laboratory experiment was conducted for
the determination of decrease in seed permeability of maize in terms of
release of exudates, by determining the electrical conductivity. The value
of electrical conductivity of the exudates were higher under low temperature
stress (8±1 C) than for the seeds germinated in 25±1 C. Minimum
leakage determines membrane permeability of the germinating seeds of resistant
maize varieties.
