Tests of Hooker-Russell exotic sources of cytoplasm converted to inbred A632

One of the 42 lines, my culture number B2709 in 1979 and B3175 in 1981 (PI 16164375 x B14¹⁶, x A632¹⁴), has all male sterile plants. One line, my culture no. B2714 in 1979 (PI 174990 x B14¹⁶ x A632¹⁴) is very late and 3179a in 1981 has very poor germination. The other 40 lines are being tested for the possibility that they may have a cytoplasmic restorer of genetic male-sterile #1. Thirty-four of these do not carry the cytoplasmic restorer for ms1. The other six will be tested in 1982.
