3. Pollination studies.

Using an experimental design of Dr. A.J. Bateman it was possible to make a study of sweet corn pollination and seed‑setting from a source. It was found that log of seed‑setting (y) dropped off with distance (x) according to the formula Y = a � 6x. This information will be of use in planning hybrid seed plots in England. It was shown that in small hybrid seed plots row direction is not important even though wind‑direction influences seed-setting.
