Caribean Flint and Southeastern Orange Flint.
Samples, which were collected near the border of
Brazil and French‑Guinea from the Paricur (Aruac) and Galibi (Caribs)
Indians, contained exclusively dark‑orange hard‑flint corn; the
former quite pure, and the latter somewhat contaminated with other races. This
is, so far, the most southern point where pure orange flint has been collected.
I stated in the 1948 Maize News Letter that I had my doubts whether the regions
of the southeastern orange flint and the Caribean orange flint should be united
into one big coastal region; and this doubt still remains.
