2. Dominant White Cap (W^c) appears to be in chromosome 1 based on the linkage observed with interchange 1-9c and the lack of linkage with 9-10a. Also there was no linkage with wx (using pollen classification for wx). Date with 1-9c (1942 and 1943): W^c = 80 semisteriles + 28 normals; yellow cap = 47 semisteriles + 74 normals or about 33% recombination. Dr. Hayes' earlier tests with bm2 were negative, while with gs there was loose but significant linkage (P = .05 - .02). Such a linkage value would indicate W^c might be near br.
