5. An inbred strain gave in F2 approximately 65% luteus seedlings (again see maize letter of November 24, 1934). The genetic constitution of this line was sp + / +l with about 2 per cent crossing over between the sp and l loci. These two genes have been linked with factors in chromosome 10. They are very close to g1 and give about 20 per cent of recombinations with R. The luteus gene is designated as lg and the small pollen gene as sp2. Seed available.
