5. An inbred strain gave in F₂ approximately 65% luteus seedlings (again see maize letter of November 24, 1934). The genetic constitution of this line was sp + / +l with about 2 per cent crossing over between the sp and l loci. These two genes have been linked with factors in chromosome 10. They are very close to g₁ and give about 20 per cent of recombinations with R. The luteus gene is designated as l_g and the small pollen gene as sp₂. Seed available.
